EXOTIC FAMILY GARDEN
A hint of a far-flung place

Design and build constraints:
Exotic feel to planting
Level change
Pernicious weeds
Two garden areas
The original garden had two separate garden areas – the main garden behind the house and a second lawn area to the side of the house with no separation from the driveway. The garden had a considerable amount of pernicious weeds and bamboo which needed to be cleared.
The decision was made to add a line of hedging between the driveway and side garden to create a space for the children to play football and basketball. The grass area was levelled and replaced with hard wearing turf.
The main garden had a considerable level change from the back of the house to the lawn area and to make the journey from the back of the house to the large entertaining areas safe a new set of steps were created. The sides of the steps were constructed from fibreglass planters which enabled planting to come into the centre of the garden. Two extension spaces either side of the main porcelain patio were constructed using a gravel stabiisation system and limestone chippings.
