FORMAL FRONT GARDEN
A well-manicured entrance

Design and build constraints:
New build property
Small front garden
Shady garden
Restricted colour palette & plants with neat habits
Specimen trees
When we first visited this new build property with a small, shady front garden, it was apparent the borders were planted up with too many, wrongly chosen plants, giving a cluttered appearance. The clients were looking for a selection of plants that were well structured with a refined appearance, that would look good year round.
At the heart of the layout are two Ilex x meserveae 'Heckenfee' feature trees, chosen for their glossy evergreen foliage and striking red berries that add year-round interest and seasonal colour. These compact, upright hollies create structure and symmetry, anchoring the design while enhancing privacy and curb appeal.
Underneath, a layered planting scheme, perfectly suited for low-light conditions, adds texture, depth and softness and includes plants such as Liriope muscari ‘Monroe White’.
